In the middle of the American desert, a mysterious metal block materializes and vanishes

A mysterious block of metal has just been found in the western US desert, making many people curious that it has disappeared.

The 3-meter-tall block of shiny metal was discovered standing tall among red rocks in the desert region of Utah, attracting the attention of many people this week, according to AFP.

On November 28, the Utah State Land Management Agency announced that it had received “reliable information” that “an unknown party” had removed a strange object on the evening of November 27.

This agency does not rule out the possibility that the mysterious metal block is private property. “We do not investigate crimes involving private property as that is the job of the sheriff’s office,” according to the release.
Local officials discovered the mysterious metal block while counting sheep from a plane on November 18. The Utah Department of Public Safety crew immediately landed the plane to investigate but could not determine who placed this mysterious metal block there.

In an announcement on November 24, the Utah Department of Public Safety said: “Installing structures or works of art on public lands without a permit is illegal, regardless of the planet you come from.” any”.

“Someone spent a lot of time, effort and equipment to be able to dig up the desert soil to place a standing metal block. It’s strange because we didn’t detect any traces of any activity.” around,” said Nick Street, spokesman for the Utah Department of Public Safety.

The discovery of the metal block spread on social networks and many people thought it could be an alien object. Local officials refused to reveal the exact location of the strange object out of concern that curious crowds would flock to the remote wilderness.

Some observers believe that the strange object looks like the work of American artist John McCracken, who lived in the neighboring state of New Mexico and died in 2011.
“It is not the work of the late artist John McCracken. However, we suspect this may be the work of an artist paying tribute to Mr. McCracken,” the late artist’s spokesman, David Zwirner, told AFP.

However, in a recent interview with The New York Times, Mr. Patrick McCracken, the late artist’s son, recalled that his father told him in 2002 that he would “leave works of art in places where remote so people can explore later.”
